These paintings of dogs are self-portraits. They expose obsessive ruminations on identity, memory, and desire. Jarring images and curious juxtapositions validate my experiences. The work also points to the escapist, technicolor, unreality of the media. Pop culture became a refuge from an ever-changing home life which detached and compartmentalized my personality.

My process reveals a journey towards non-judgement: adding, subtracting, reconsidering; harbored doubts and ultimate faith. The canvases strive for balanced states of control and intuition, of presence and absence. It is a chance to integrate all my perceived contradictions, and finally committing to live and love as one person.
